KISORO – The Grade One Magistrate Court in Kisoro District, presided over by His Worship Dismas Muchelule has set free a 18-year-old man, Fideris Nshimimana from Kisoro Government Prison after spending two and a half months on remand for malicious damage of property.
The incident involved the malicious damage of Mugisha Kamanukye’s property in Chibumba trading center, Chahafi Town Council, Kisoro District, on October 29, 2023.
During the court proceedings, the complainant, Kamanukye, appealed to reconcile the suspect, Fideris, stating that upon discussions with Fideris’ parents, they concluded that he was unjustly imprisoned.
Kamanukye expressed his intention to search for the real culprit responsible for falsely accusing Fideris of the act. His Worship Muchelule, citing Act 160 that allows the Magistrate to forgive and Act 126 in the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda allowing reconciliation, decided to set Fideris free.
