KAMPALA – The Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Zaake Francis, has come forward, disclosing credible information received from a whistleblower concerning a plot to assassinate him.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Thursday evening, Zaake revealed that the plan is allegedly being orchestrated by regime officials, including the head of a government organ, a regime Minister, and a high-ranking security official.
“I am informed that the plan is being hatched by regime officials led by the head of one of the government organs, a regime Minister, and a high-ranking security official,” Tweeted Zaake on Thursday.
In the eventuality of the worst-case scenario, Zaake has already shared pertinent details of the plot and identified the individuals involved with relevant authorities. He finds himself in a precarious situation, besieged by various challenges, some of which are physical, jeopardizing his personal life.

Last year in October, during a session in Parliament, Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa had to adjourn for 10 minutes due to accusations by Juliet Kinyamatama, the Rakai District Woman MP. Kinyamatama claimed that Francis Zaake made defamatory remarks against her during a recent visit to Rakai district. She insisted that the derogatory words uttered were so objectionable that she couldn’t repeat them but demanded the video clip be played before Parliament.
Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa referred the matter to Parliament’s Rules, Privileges, and Discipline for investigation. Kinyamatama protested, accusing Parliament of attempting to cover up Zaake’s behavior due to his gender. Despite the boycott by opposition MPs, who demanded an apology for the mistreatment of opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi and the siege on the National Unity Platform (NUP) party headquarters, they were present to hear the government’s response.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, Speaker Anitah Annet Among blocked Zaake’s appointment as the Deputy Chief Whip in Parliament, stating that such a position doesn’t exist within the Rules and Procedure of Parliament. Her decision came after Chief Opposition Whip John Baptist Nambeshe attempted to assign Zaake two positions, Shadow Minister of Presidency and Security, as well as Deputy Chief Whip. Speaker Among halted the move, leading the Opposition to rescind its position.
“We don’t have that position (Deputy Chief Whip) in our Rules of Procedure. We don’t have it; withdraw it. We have a whip who is your good self; we don’t have a deputy in our Rules of Procedure. That is air, if someone has been given air, that is air,” stated Among.
Zaake’s troubles escalated when he criticized the Speaker on social media for her comments during a plenary session honoring legislators and parliamentary staff who participated in the East African Legislative Assembly Games in Tanzania.
