KABALE – Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, the Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna has urged Christians across the diocese to embrace the guidance of the Holy Spirit for their spiritual journey.
Bishop Akanjuna said this today while confirming 38 confirmants into the Anglican faith at St Peter’s Cathedral Church Rugarama in Kabale Municipality. In his remarks, Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Christians, portraying it as the comforter, defender, provider, and counselor.

Bishop Akanjuna elaborated on how the Holy Spirit brings comfort in challenging times, shields against spiritual attacks, fulfills all needs, and imparts wise counsel in decision-making, steering Christians away from worldly privileges. He encouraged the confirmants to open their hearts and minds to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, emphasizing its role in leading them towards the kingdom of God.

During the sermon, Reverend Richard Menees expounded on the importance of confirmation as the foundational step in one’s faith journey, a race that individuals must run to strengthen their connection with God. He clarified that confirmation is a sacrament where individuals publicly affirm their commitment to faith and receive the Holy Spirit. Rev. Menees emphasized that this sacrament marks not the end but the commencement of a lifelong pursuit towards a deeper understanding and connection with God.
