KABALE: Marine Police in Kabale District is investigating circumstances under which a 34years old man drown in lake Bunyonyi yesterday 06th January 2023.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region police spokesperson identified the deceased as Believe Orikiriza aged 34 a resident of Kagasha Village Butenga Kabale district
Maate revealed that drowning Cause was reported to lake Bunyonyi marine detach by Nelson Safari 37 a brother to the deceased who doubles as the vice chairman Bunyonyi boat transporters a resident of Kagasha Village Butenga Kabale district
The cause of drowning was attributed to the strong waves that overturned the canoe he was traveling in while from Rutindo market going back to his home.
His body was recovered and retrieved by police marine and locals and was handed over to relatives for burial.
Maate warned the public around lake Bunyonyi against traveling on water without protective gears that can help in case of danger.
The case of death by drowning was registered at Kabale Central Police station under reference number SD 07/06/01/2023.
