KANUNGU- Police in Kanungu district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 44 years old-man.
Asp Elly Maate, the kigezi region police spokesperson has identified the deceased as Yasin Nayegizika, a resident of Nyakatunguru cell, Lwanga ward, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district.
Maate says the body of the deceased was discovered within the Centre on Wednesday morning with multiple injuries all over the body.
Maate narrates that as reported by Mayanja Rashid, the LC 11 chairman lwanga ward, the victim was murdered at unknown time during Tuesday night at Nyakiyaga cell, Kihiihi ward, by yet unknown suspect(s) and for unknown reasons.
He asserts that scene of crime was visited by police, body was taken to Kihihi Health Center 4 mortuary where postmortem was done and was handed over to relatives for descent burial.
He added that inquiries are at hand asking whoever maybe having any information that can lead to the arrest of suspects, to volunteer it so that are brought to book.
A statement of murder case has been registered at kihihi police station under reference number CRB 03/2023.
