Police in Kisoro District are investigating a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of a husband and wife along the Kisoro–Kabale highway.
The fatal collision occurred on 2nd October 2025 at around 6:20pm opposite Airland Hotel in Nyakabande. The crash involved a Mercedes Benz semi-trailer, registration number KDR 693N/ZH5807, and a blue Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UDN 775S.
The deceased were identified as Sebahinzi Kenneth (40) – the motorcycle rider and Ntiringanya Sylvia (38) his wife and passenger. Both were residents of Mubuga Village, Gitendere Parish, Nyarusiza Sub-county in Kisoro District.
According to preliminary reports, the semi-trailer was heading from the Kyanika border towards Kabale, while the couple was riding towards Kisoro Town. On reaching the Airland Hotel stretch, the two vehicles collided head-on, killing the couple instantly.
A team led by ASP Ainomugisha Musa, the District Traffic Officer, visited and documented the scene. Statements from eyewitnesses were recorded, and the bodies were taken to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
The semi-trailer driver fled the scene and is currently on the run. Both vehicles have been impounded at Kisoro Central Police Station pending inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV).
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the accident.
