Passenger Dies in Rukiga Road Fatal Accident

RUKIGA- Police in Rukiga district have  registered a traffic road fatal accident that claimed one person leaving  another one critically injured.According to the Kigezi region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate the accident occurred on Monday at around 09:45pm, opposite St. Paul’s Bukinda Secondary School along Ntungamo -Kabale highway.

Maate adds that the accident involved motor vehicle registration number UAP 115 S Toyota Premio white in colour being driven by unknown and Motorcycle registration number UEY 284 K Bajaj boxer red in colour being ridden by one Maxima Kasigwa 40yrs a resident of Kakatunda trading centre Muhanga Town council.

Maate on Tuesday Morning identified the deceased as

Turinamuka Alex (36), who was the passenger on the motorcycle a resident of Ibaaso ward Muhanga Town council Rukiga District and Kasigwa Maxima, the victim also the ridder of the motorcycle who was critically injured with a fractured right leg.

It’s alleged that the ridder was keeping his left-hand side of the road heading to Ntungamo direction, and abruptly changed to the extreme right-hand lane of the road where by meeting an oncoming vehicle from Ntungamo which knocked motorcycle head, the passenger on motorcycle died on spot.

According to Maate, Preliminary cause of accident was reckless ridding by the ridder of the motorcycle.

Maate also said that the Scene was visited by DTO Rukiga and team, the injured was rushed to Kabale referral hospital for medical attention and body was taken to mortuary for post-mortem.

He asserted that both motor vehicle and motor cycle towed to Muhanga police station pending IOV inspection and efforts to arrest the driver are underway since he abandoned the vehicle 60m away from the scene and fled off.
