KISORO – Police in Kisoro district are hunting for Reverend Sam Nziita (58), a Mufumbira by tribe and resident of Kibande village, Busamba ward, Southern division in Kisoro municipality.
Rev Nziita is wanted in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on Monday, October 9, 2023, at approximately 9:20 PM.
The victim, identified as Mbabazi Stephen (55), also a Mufumbira, hailing from Nyaruhengyere village, Busamba ward, Southern division in Kisoro municipality, was fatally struck by a silver Toyota Prado with registration number UAW030C.
The vehicle, reportedly traveling from Kisoro town towards Kabale, lost control near Kyamps petrol station, hitting the pedestrian who was walking along the road, resulting in immediate death.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, reported that Asp Kushaba Micheal, DTO Kisoro, visited the accident scene, assisted by PC Erima Abubackar.
The deceased’s body was transported to Kisoro hospital mortuary for postmortem, while the involved vehicle was towed to Kisoro Central Police Station for inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
Maate attributed the accident to reckless driving and emphasized that inquiries are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing driver.
