Two people were seriously injured following a road crash that occurred on Monday morning at Karengeri in Muko Sub-county along the Kabale–Kisoro Road in Rubanda District.
According to Kigezi Regional Police, the crash involved a Nissan Pickup Single Cabin, registration number UBK 746P, and a dark grey HOWO truck, registration numbers KDK 325W/ZD 9216.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the pickup reportedly lost control and collided head-on with the truck.
Traffic Police from Rubanda District responded promptly to the scene and rescued two unidentified victims who sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to Kisoro Hospital for specialised medical treatment.
Police have launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime has urged motorists to observe traffic regulations, respect road signs and adhere to the recommended speed limits to reduce road accidents.
He also advised drivers covering long distances to take adequate rest before setting off, saying fatigue can significantly impair concentration and increase the risk of crashes.
