Unidentified Man Dies in Altercation Over Goat in Kabale

KABALE – The Police in Kabale District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified adult male.

Reportedly, on August 26, 2023, around 4:00 PM at Rutenga ward, Central Division, Kabale Municipality, the deceased, whose identity remains unknown, visited the home of a 15-year-old male named Atuhaire Andrew to ask for water.

Subsequently, he sent Andrew to buy him a soda from a nearby shop. Upon Andrew’s return, he witnessed the deceased attempting to take away Andrew’s goat, which was tied up in the compound.

Andrew called for help as the deceased struggled with the goat. During the commotion, the deceased fell from his motorcycle, bearing registration number UDZ 855P.

He quickly got up and tried to flee but was apprehended, restrained, and assaulted by locals who then called the police for assistance.

The police promptly responded to the situation and transported the injured deceased to Kabale Referral Hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, the deceased was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Elly Maate, the spokesperson for Kigezi Region Police, has mentioned that the crime scene was visited and processed, and the body was sent to the hospital for a postmortem examination.

Currently, no suspects have been apprehended, and the investigation is ongoing.
