KABALE-
A number of hardware’s in Kabale district dealing in selling of cement are currently experiencing stock out, following a power outage that has affected manufacturing factories.
The survey done by our reporter shows that most of the hardware’s in Kabale town, their stores are empty and those that have less stock have increased the price compared to previous prices.
Currently a sack of Hima Multipurpose cement has increased from 34,000 shillings to 35,000 shillings, Tororo Cement from 35500 shillings to 36,500 shillings.
Various cement factories in the country have attributed the rise in cement prices to the irregular power supply, which they say has affected their production levels, forcing them to buy diesel to run their machines.
Hardware Operators, in Kabale attribute the increase in prices to high demand of customers in the area. Cement is categorized as one of the fastest moving goods in hardware business and the mostly used construction material.
Joram Baguma, the CEO of Macro Hardware along Kabale-Katuna road says the situation has terribly affected them much causing them to make losses for the past two weeks.
Bagamu termed the situation as a big blow and setback to hardware operators and customers whose construction works are on stand still causing different dynamics in them.
