Kampala Police Busts Criminal Gangs, 34 Arrested in Central Business District Crackdown

KAMPALA – The Police in Kampala have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending 34 suspects believed to be part of criminal gangs operating in the city’s bustling Central Business District.

The arrests were carried out during a successful operation conducted on July 25th, 2023, as reported by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy police spokesperson for Kamplala metropolitan area.

These criminal gangs have been notorious for engaging in a range of illicit activities, including the vandalism of parked and moving motor vehicles, snatching of phones, pickpocketing, and various other offenses that have caused distress among the residents.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire disclosed that the arrested suspects are currently in custody at the Central Police Station Kampala, where thorough investigations are underway. The police assure the public that the operation is still ongoing, and they will be duly informed of any further progress.
