Before receiving the financial aid, SACCO members and their spouses participated in a comprehensive one-year training program. The training covered key topics such as parenting, financial management, health, and spirituality.
Kenneth Rwego, the director of Eden Mission, who officiated the event, noted that the financial support carries a nominal interest rate of 1% over two years, with the possibility of extension depending on the SACCOs’ performance. He added that if the SACCOs perform well, Eden Mission would return half of the interest collected as an incentive.
Hagena Beatrice, chairperson of the women’s council in Butuga village, praised Eden Mission’s generosity, emphasizing that the support has the potential to lift the community out of poverty. She mentioned her intention to take a loan from the SACCO to invest in piggery, enabling her to better provide for her children.
Nyiramahoro Annet from Butuga village expressed optimism about starting a business trading agricultural produce, such as beans, with the support from Eden Mission. She also appreciated the parenting skills gained through the training.

Rukina Elias, the LC2 chairperson of Rwingwe Parish, noted that the introduction of Eden Mission’s one-year training program for couples had led to a significant reduction in domestic violence cases in the area. He urged parents to set good examples for their children, who often emulate their parents’ behavior.
Ntawera Funi, chairperson of Nyakabande LC3, advised SACCO leaders to carefully assess members’ work plans before granting loans. He also encouraged members to practice frugality to navigate the tough economic times.
