KISORO: Owners of tipper trucks from Rubuguri Town Council in Bukimbiri County have vowed to seek legal action against the Kisoro Tippers’ Association if it continues to chain their business trucks.
This decision follows reports that the leadership of the Kisoro Tippers’ Association has allegedly begun an operation to chain all business trucks whose owners have not registered with the association. The operation has primarily affected truck owners from Bukimbiri who use their vehicles for transportation, especially on market days in Kisoro Municipality.
On Tuesday, two trucks were chained, marking the second incident after one truck was chained last week. Affected Rubuguri tipper owners, including Mucuguzi Wilberforce, Barnabas, and Mugambi, expressed their dissatisfaction at the RDC’s office.
Mucunguzi Wilberforce, who is also the head teacher at Iryaruvumba Primary School, reported that their vehicles were on Tuesday stopped and chained at 10:00 AM, with a demand to pay 500,000 shillings each. However, after seeking intervention at the RDC’s office, the Kisoro Deputy Resident District Commissioner ordered the Kisoro Tippers’ Association to release the chained trucks immediately, without any conditions.
