KATAKWI: Stanbic Bank’s Soroti Branch has donated medical equipment worth 30 million shillings to Katakwi General Hospital.
According to the bank’s management, the donation is part of its corporate social responsibility initiative, which covers various districts across Uganda, including Kapchorwa, Kamuli, and Mbarara. In the eastern region, Katakwi was the main focus.
Last year, Stanbic held a market day for the Mbale district business community.
Speaking to journalists, Stephen Amodoi, the branch manager of Stanbic Bank Soroti, said the donation was part of the bank’s “Love Month” promotion, held every October.
Amodoi explained that the campaign aims to appreciate the bank’s clients through various activities such as community engagement and financial literacy initiatives, with 100 clients participating in this year’s Love Month for Clients.
He emphasized that the Love Month initiative allows Stanbic Bank to give back to the community.
The donated equipment includes lifesaving tools such as a baby warmer, two delivery beds for maternal care, an incubator, and a patient monitoring system for both emergency and routine care.
Amodoi noted that the donation will help strengthen the health sector by enabling hospitals to address the numerous challenges they face.
Geoffrey Omolo, the LC5 chairperson of Katakwi district, praised the bank’s contribution, saying it would significantly enhance the hospital’s service delivery. He added that the timely donation would help bridge the gaps in the district’s healthcare system.
The equipment is scheduled to be delivered to Katakwi General Hospital on Friday, October 11, 2024, with the Vice President expected to attend as the chief guest.
