The suspects were apprehended from various locations within Kabale Municipality during the early hours of the night. Police say they were deemed a security threat, as they failed to account for their movements and some were found smoking or in possession of opium.
The suspects include, Dickens Agumenitwe, Nicholas Shabahurira, Fahadi Magoba, Patrick Kashenya, Micah Tuyishabe, Amon Turinawe, Ronald Tumukunde, Wilber Arinitwe, Gidion Ampeire and Brandin Mutoniwase.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson says that Police will continue with such operations to curb incidents of waylaying travelers, snatching bags, burglary, and theft within the municipality.
Maate urged the public to minimize unnecessary nighttime movements, use well-lit streets, avoid shortcuts and isolated routes, and report any suspicious individuals who may pose a security threat in their communities.
He says that upon conclusion of investigations, the suspects will be arraigned in court to face charges related to possession of opium and public nuisance.
