Man Kills Daughter in Kanungu

KANUNGU – Police in Kanungu district are currently holding a 38-year-old man, Yosiah Kato, for allegedly causing the death of his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Fortunate Akansasira.

 

The incident occurred on August 5, 2023, around 10:00 PM at his residence in Omurushasha cell, Mbungu parish, Kanungu district.

 

Yosiah Kato discovered an unknown man engaged in sexual intercourse with his wife, Kyosimure Evelyn, in their bedroom. Upon confronting his wife, an argument ensued, during which he unintentionally struck his sleeping daughter with a nearby stick, resulting in her immediate demise.

 

After the tragic incident, Yosiah fled the scene, but he surrendered to Kanungu police on August 6, 2023. The authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.

 

Kigezi Sub region Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate expressed condemnation for such acts and informed the press that the crime scene was documented, the body was transported to Mpungu Health Center 4 for postmortem examination.

 

The murder case was registered at Kanungu CPS under reference number CRB 526/2023.
