KISORO – The Uganda Peoples Defense Force personnel, Erisa Nsekuye, aged 28, attached to Katakwi Army Barracks has died in a fatal road accident in Kisoro District.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, the accident occurred on Sunday at 5:50 Pm involving two motorcycles, registration numbers UFG 914U and UFW 340C, both Bajaj boxers and red in color.
Nsekuye was riding motorcycle UFW 340C from Kisoro, heading towards Kabale when the collision happened. The other rider was identified as Urban, son of Sebagare, a resident of Busozi village, Gisorora parish in Nyakabande sub-county, Kisoro district.
Tragically, Nsekuye succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Mutolere hospital, where he had been rushed for medical attention after the accident.
The collision also left Urban critically injured, along with Nsekuye’s wife and child. They are currently receiving medical care at Mutolere hospital.
Maate reveals that Police were informed of the accident, and Asp Kushaba Micheal DTO Kisoro and his team visited the scene.
The initial investigation attributes the cause of the accident to reckless riding on the part of the motorcyclist with registration number UFG 914U, as he had left his lane.
Both motorcycles involved in the collision are currently parked at Kisoro Central Police station awaiting an inspection by the Investigating Officer in Charge of Vehicles (IOV).
