Police investigations into a suspected serial murder case in Greater Masaka have revived questions about the whereabouts of Fred Mujulizi, a man previously wanted in connection with multiple killings in the region.
The renewed attention follows the arrest of 38-year-old Kulaishi Kamugisha, a moneylender from Kasala in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division, who is suspected of involvement in several murders.

Police have not publicly confirmed that Kamugisha is the same person as Mujulizi, also known by other names, despite speculation surrounding their identities.
According to police, the investigation began after a human head wrapped in a white polythene bag was discovered at Kako Cell along the Kako–Mukungwe Road on September 29, 2026. The corresponding headless body was later recovered from Butale Cell in Kyanamukaaka.
Police said Kamugisha allegedly told investigators that he had been hired by a traditional healer from Kyotera to obtain human body parts for Shs2 million, of which Shs250,000 had reportedly been paid in advance.

Investigators have also linked him to two other suspected murders in Nsangi, Wakiso District, and Sanga. The allegations remain under investigation, and the suspect has not been convicted of the offences.
Mujulizi, meanwhile, was previously suspected of involvement in a series of killings in Greater Masaka more than a decade ago. Among the incidents cited in reports about the long-running case was the January 2013 killing of nine members of a family in Kanabulemu village, Kyebe Sub-county, Rakai District.
Other allegations circulating in connection with the case include the killings of family members in Kyanamukaaka and Kyotera. However, the claims that Mujulizi was responsible for all the cited incidents, or that the total number of victims has reached 50, have not been independently established.
