RUKUNGIRI: One Person has been confirmed dead, Four Arrested by Police in Rukungiri District in a fight over Woman in Rukungiri Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Mwesigwa Nazario (30) whereas the suspects are Muyambi Quraisi, alias Cooler, Kyarisima Pias, Tukundane Ivan, and Ninsima Agatha.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred on Sunday at around 4:22 PM at Kibale Cell, Karangaro Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality. Muyambi Quraisi, alias Cooler, went to Ninsima Agatha’s bar, where the deceased and others were present and ordered crude Waragi worth 500 shillings and cigarettes worth 300 shillings for everyone, intending to be alone with the bar owner, Ninsima Agatha.
However, Mwesigwa Nazario refused the offer and remained in the bar, which angered both Muyambi Quraisi and Kyarisima Pias. They forcefully removed him from the bar and repeatedly hit him against the metallic door.
Neighbor Kamigane David, who was sleeping in the adjacent room, heard the noise and found them assaulting Nazario. He shouted at them to stop, and they left him. Nazario staggered home but could not enter his house.
On Monday around 7:00 AM, his mother, Nabagereka Scovia, found him at the doorstep and informed Speria Orikiriza. Before he died, Nazario revealed to them that he had been assaulted by Muyambi Quraisi, Kyarisima Pias, and others. They carried him to his bed, but he was later found dead.
The area chairperson, Turyahikayo Francisco, and Speria Orikiriza reported the incident to the police. ASP
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, stated that the scene was visited and documented, statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, and the four suspects were arrested.
Maate says that the body of the deceased was taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem.
