Former MP Aspirant Arrested Over Robbery, Fraud in Buyende

BUYENDE – Police in Buyende District have apprehended former MP Aspirant for Buyende West County, Sempa Vincent, along with his driver Isaac Musoke Robert, for their alleged involvement in attempted robbery and fraud.

Additionally, an army officer attached to the Fisheries Protection Unit, Tiya Ndimulodi, has also been detained in connection with the same incident.

The suspects stand accused of attempting robbery and fraud related to a mercury deal at a German Store located in Busikwe village, Gumpi sub-county, within Buyende district.

According to SCP Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police spokesperson, two other individuals involved in the case, Fredrick Ngobi of Munyegera Ward in Buwenge, Jinja, and Nsuguba Ibrahim, a boda boda rider from Kamuli, lost their lives at the hands of a mob when the deal took a tragic turn.

Enanga disclosed that the suspects had planned to intoxicate the sellers with chloroform in their attempt to steal the mercury.

However, their actions were thwarted when one of the seller’s sons raised the alarm, attracting nearby residents.

Prompt police response led to the arrest of five suspects in connection with the double murder of Ngobi Fredrick and Muhammad.

These apprehended individuals have been identified as Muyige Evulantine, Mwase Siragi, Mwige Swaibu, Mwase Ali, and Mwase Karim.

They have since appeared in court to face charges related to the incident.
