Heartless Mother Burns Daughters Over Food Theft in Nakasongola

NAKASONGOLA – Police in Nakasongola District are actively investigating a disturbing incident in which a mother allegedly burned her two daughters, Nagenda Fatuma (6 years old) and Nasuuna Hajara (4 years old), for stealing food.

The victims, pupils of Kamukamu Nursery School, suffered the horrifying act on Monday, October 23, 2023, around 3:00 P.M. in Kyabutaika, Kakooge Town Council.

Namuwonge Justine, a resident of Kyabutaika, is the biological mother accused of lighting a charcoal stove and inflicting burns on her children’s hands.

The motive behind this cruel act was an alleged theft of beans. Shockingly, she neglected to seek medical attention for her injured daughters.

ASP Sam Twiineamazima, the Savana region Police spokesperson, reported that the police promptly responded, documented the scene, and registered a case of torture.

Statements from relevant witnesses were recorded, and the victims were admitted to Kakooge Health Center III for medical care.

As a result of these investigations, Namuwonge Justine has been arrested and is currently in detention at Kakooge Police Station, awaiting legal proceedings.
