A 42-year-old man has committed suicide following a domestic dispute with his wife in Kanungu District.
The deceased, identified as Frank Tusingwire, was a resident of Nyamutundane Cell, Kashojwa Parish, in Rugyeyo Sub-county.
He is reported to have hanged himself with a rope during the night on Friday.
According to police reports, Tusingwire had a serious fight with his wife, Twikirize Constance, prompting her to leave their home and seek refuge at her parents’ house, taking their young children with her.
When Twikirize returned to their home on Saturday, she was devastated to find her husband hanging from a rope in the visitors’ room.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that police officers from Rugyeyo Police Post visited the scene, recovered the rope used in the suicide, and conducted a postmortem examination at the scene.
Maate said that the body was later handed over to the family for a decent burial.
