Police in Kasese District are investigating the suspected murder of a 45-year-old man whose body was found by the roadside in Ibuga Village, Kitswamba Sub-county.
The deceased, identified as Bwambale Vanahasi, a resident of Bigando Village, is suspected to have been killed between the night of September 13 and the early morning of September 14, although the exact time of his death was not immediately established.
According to police, the body was discovered on Monday morning after Bigando Police Post officer in charge received information from Bigando Village LC1 chairman Bwambale Sowedi at about 8:30am.
Police officers from Hima Police Division, including a canine unit, visited the scene and documented the area before recovering the body from a roadside in the plantations of Ssemu at Ibuga Village.
Police said a sniffer dog picked up a scent at the scene and tracked it to a location where Bwambale Nelson was arrested for questioning.
The deceased’s body, which had visible bruises, was taken to Kasese Municipal Health Centre mortuary for a postmortem examination.
ASP Elly Maate, the Rwenzori East regional police spokesperson, said investigations were ongoing.
He appealed to anyone with information that could help identify the people responsible for the death to provide it to police to facilitate their arrest and prosecution.
