Residents of Sagitwe Village in Nyarusiza Sub County were left shocked on Friday morning when a man was discovered dead along the roadside near Nturo Trading Centre.
The deceased, Sanvura Godfrey, 43, a local driver, was found by Ngabe Moses Sebahire, a 41-year-old businessman, who stumbled upon the body while heading to work.
He quickly alerted the District Police Commander, SP Edatu Cosmas, who dispatched a team to the scene.
Police from the Kisoro Homicide Desk, led by D/Sgt Tumwijuke Sande, together with the Scene of Crime Officer and detectives, examined the scene, recorded witness statements, and took the body to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
ASP Maate Elly, Police Regional Officer for Kigezi, confirmed that the case has been opened as a suspected murder and that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death.
Maate revealed that ten suspects have so far been arrested to help in investigations.
