Police in Kisoro District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was discovered along a road near his home.
The deceased, identified as Hategeka Bosco, a resident of Gasarara village in Soko parish, Muramba Sub-county, was found dead at Kanyenka Trading Centre on Sunday August 17, 2025.
His body was discovered with deep cuts on the chin, injuries to the chest, and a large stone placed on his head.
According to preliminary reports, Hategeka had left his home on Saturday Evening at around 7:00 p.m. to attend a relative’s vigil in Rusenyi village.
His wife, who was preparing to attend a different vigil in a nearby village, only learned of his death the following morning while returning home.
Relatives phoned her to break the tragic news, and she rushed to the scene, where she confirmed the incident.
The case was reported to Kisoro Central Police Station (CPS) by a relative, George Haguma. Police detectives, accompanied by the canine unit, visited and documented the scene, though attempts by the dogs to track possible suspects were unsuccessful.

He added that inquiries are ongoing to establish the motive and apprehend those responsible.
