KANUNGU: Police in Kanungu district have registered a death incident of a male juvenile as a result of landslides.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson has identified the deceased as Wilson Amanyire a pupil at mama Barbra nursery school at Bajiyangoma church son of Shilah Atuhire 26 years & Edson Byaruhanga 30 years a resident of Kikondera village Bushura parish Kirima sub county in Kanungu district who was covered by soil on Tuesday 15th November 2022 at about 06:00pm after their house was carried away due to heavy rains and died instantly.
Maate said that others affected by floods include Ruth Ntegerize 35 years and Edson Sanyu 45 years both residents of Kikondera village, Bushura parish, Kirima sub county in Kanungu district, whose banana plantations were destroyed too.
Scene was visited by police, statements obtained from eyewitness and body retrieved from soil and handed over to relatives for burial.

It’s so bad for the affected families and entire Kanungu at large, May the deceased rest in internal peace. However the the government should help the those families.
