Rubanda District Applauds Self-help Africa for Environmental Conservation

Rubanda: Rubanda district has commended Self-help Africa for the tremendous work they have done in the district by improving the household income and conserving the environment in the five years contract they had signed with Rubanda district local government.
This message was delivered by Mary Bebwajuba the district councilor, Hamurwa Town Council while representing Steven Kasyaba Ampeire the Rubanda district LC5 chairperson on service withdraw function that was held at Muko church of Uganda parish grounds in Muko sub-county Rubanda district on Wednesday 16th November 2022.
Bebwajuba thanked self-help Africa under African International Christian Ministry (AICM) for the work they have done in conserving the environment like water most especially in areas around Lake Bunyonyi through providing people with different tree planting technologies and protection of the lake buffer zone with bamboo trees, stabilization of water trenches/check dams with Napier grass among other measures which she said has controlled soil erosion in the sub-county.
Bebwajuba further revealed thatĀ  Self-help Africa have also organized different cooperatives in Muko sub-county and provided with them all needed requirements and startup capital which she called the residents to use as an advantage to improve on their household income.
Denis Mucunguzi the Executive Director African International Christian Ministry (AICM) asked the Rubanda district authorities to combine efforts with the residents to see these activities are extended to the whole district not only Muko sub-county if they are to conserve the environment especially soil erosion which isĀ  affecting famers .
Speaking to our reporter after the function Amos Akampurira of Matakara village, Kedress Kesiime of Bigyeegye village and Wilber Byarugaba of Kiruruma village both in Muko parish Muko sub-county, praised Self-help Africa international and African International Christian Ministry (AICM) for the successful five years they have been accessing their services where all said shall both improve household income and environment conservation.
Self-help Africa and African International Christian Ministry (AICM) started delivering its services in Muko sub-county in December 2017 in villages of Bigyeegye, Matakara, Kiruruma, Katembe, Karambo, Nyakatooma, Hamukaaka I and Hamukaaka II all in Muko Parish Muko sub-county with the aim of conserving lake bunyonyi through soil water conservation technologies, Agroforestry technologies, Green enterprises, Protection of the lake buffer zones with bamboo trees, Farmer field schools and stabilization of water trenches by putting check dams and Napier grass.
