Police in Rukiga District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Muganizi Bosco, an 18-year-old security guard employed by SAFE TAC Security Company.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Thursday at around 10:30 PM. Muganizi, along with an unidentified accomplice, reportedly entered the bar of one Mbarinawe Senior while armed with a gun and a bow and arrow. The pair allegedly ordered patrons to sit down and demanded they surrender all their money.
During the attempted robbery, while Muganizi pointed the bow and arrow at the bar owner, a customer identified only as Elias jumped up and grabbed him. The second suspect, who was armed with a gun, fled the scene.
A struggle ensued between Muganizi and the patrons. He was overpowered, and a mob gathered, beating him severely.
Elly Maate, spokesperson for the Kigezi region police, confirmed that officers visited, processed, and documented the scene. A bow and arrow were recovered, and Muganizi’s body was taken to Kabale Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
