Police Arrests Vehicle Vandalism Gang in Kampala

KAMPALA – On September 21, 2023, the police in Kampala acted swiftly in response to numerous complaints flooding social media and official channels regarding rampant vehicle vandalism within the central business district.

In a well-coordinated intelligence operation, law enforcement successfully apprehended suspects responsible for the theft of side mirrors and various motor vehicle parts.

The apprehended culprits, who were caught red-handed in the act of pilfering both moving vehicles and those parked in Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) parking spaces, have been identified as Muhammed Ramathan, Kabalega Deus, Emron Lawrence, and Kazungu Enoch.

During the operation, a significant quantity of stolen motor vehicle parts was recovered from the suspects.

Further interrogation of these individuals led the police to the Kiseka area, where they uncovered illicit shops engaged in the trade of stolen vehicle parts.

In this phase of the operation, additional suspects, including Mugabi Shakur, Lukwago Abdulkarim, Kabambwe Mark, Nyanzi Fred, and Wandera Fred, were arrested.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody at the Central Police Station in Kampala, where they will undergo due legal procedures.

Subsequently, they will be brought before the courts to face charges related to their involvement in these criminal activities.

Owoyesigyire emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and continues to yield results as they diligently work to uncover more details about this criminal network.
