JINJA – In Jinja, a police officer has been apprehended on charges of murdering his wife by fatally shooting her.
According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, the incident occurred on September 5, 2023, at approximately 5:15 PM.
AIP Egwang David, a police officer affiliated with the Counter Terrorism Tactical Naguru unit, allegedly used a pistol to fatally shoot his wife at the Jinja Road Police Barracks, where they had been residing.
The Deceased, identified as Corporal (Cpl) Atino Jennifer, was associated with the Very Important Person Protection Unit of the Police (VIPPU) at Parliament.
Onyango disclosed that the suspected motive behind the shooting is believed to be domestic violence.
Presently, the suspect, AIP Egwang David, is in custody at the Jinja Road Police Division, awaiting further interrogation.
