School Patron Arrested for Aggravated Defilement & Sodomy of 3 Male Pupils

FORTPORTAL – The Territorial Police in Rwenzori West and Fort portal East Division have successfully apprehended a school patron from Kasisi Day and Boarding Primary School on charges of Aggravated Defilement and Sodomy against three male pupils in the boarding section.

The suspect, identified as Ssali Joash, 37 years old, was tracked down to his hide-out in Bugongi village, Sheema South County, in Sheema district.

According to the Uganda Police spokesperson, SCP Enanga Fre, the suspect came under scrutiny after the alleged incidents were reported on June 12, 2023. The disturbing case involves Aggravated Defilement and Sodomy against three male pupils in the boarding section.

Following medical examinations, it was revealed that one of the pupils suffered a ruptured anus, indicating signs of penetration. While the other two victims were found to be negative in their medical examinations, all three male pupils were left psychologically traumatized by the heinous acts and are currently receiving ongoing psychosocial support to aid their recovery.

SCP Enanga Fre strongly condemned all forms of sexual violence in schools and emphasized that the authorities are determined to hold the school patron accountable for his abhorrent crimes of child sexual abuse.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding children’s well-being within educational institutions. The police’s swift action in apprehending the suspect is a step towards ensuring justice for the victims and sending a clear message that such acts will not be tolerated in society.
