KAMPALA – The Police at Bugolobi and Jinja road in Kampala are currently investigating a tragic shooting that led to the loss of a precious life.
The unfortunate event took place at approximately on Friday night at 9 pm and involved a distressing altercation between a security guard named AIJUKA ARODE, employed by Security Plus Ltd, and a 48-year-old businesswoman, Mutesi Zainabu.
Mutesi operated a popular drinks and merchandise store within the bustling Bugolobi Market building. It was within the walls of her store that the confrontation occurred, leaving everyone in shock and disbelief.
During the heated exchange, the situation escalated, and the security guard allegedly moved a few meters from his post and fired a single shot directly at Mutesi’s store.
The bullet struck the innocent businesswoman, leaving her critically injured and in urgent need of medical attention. She was swiftly rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals fought valiantly to save her life.
Tragically, despite their efforts, Mutesi succumbed to her injuries, leaving her family, friends, and the community devastated.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Police discovered that the security guard had fled with his rifle, intensifying the urgency of the investigation. However, the dedicated law enforcement officers worked tirelessly, and their efforts bore fruit as they managed to apprehend the suspect the following morning. He is currently in custody at Jinja Road Police station, awaiting further legal proceedings.
The recovery of the suspected murder weapon provided a critical piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident and assured the public that their team is fully committed to unraveling the truth behind this regrettable incident.
Owoyesigyire pledged transparency and vowed to keep the public informed as the investigation progresses.
