Kisoro Man on the Run after Killing Elder Brother

KISORO – Police in Kisoro District are hunting Gerald Tugumisirize, a resident of Rugaryi Village, Nyundo Parish in Nyundo sub-county, Kisoro District, for causing a horrifying incident that resulted in the death of his elder brother.

The deceased, identified as Byamukama Sirasi, aged 54, tragically lost his life after being struck on the head with a hoe.

The unfortunate events unfolded last night when Tugumisirize allegedly engaged in a heated altercation with his wife, Kyorimpa Gaundensia. The situation escalated, and Kyorimpa sought refuge at her mother’s house. Tugumisirize, fueled by anger, pursued her, wielding a hoe and violently hitting the door.

The mother of both Tugumisirize and the deceased Fere Nyirantezimana , recounted the harrowing sequence of events. She stated that the commotion caused by the couple’s fight drew the attention of Byamukama Sirasi, who promptly rushed to the scene. Tragically, upon his arrival, Tugumisirize struck him on the head with the hoe, resulting in his immediate and untimely death.

The Rugaryi Village Chairperson, Abel Mugimba, confirmed the incident and expressed his grief over the incident. He attributed the tragedy to the influence of alcohol in the lives of those involved. As of the latest update, Kisoro District Police detectives have visited the scene, conducted a postmortem examination, and subsequently released the body to the family for funeral arrangements.
