Police in Rubanda District have arrested three suspects over alleged theft from a motor vehicle and robbery along the Kabale–Kisoro Highway.

The suspects were arrested following an incident that occurred at Karukara Market in Hamurwa Town Council on the night of May 21, 2026, shortly after midnight.

According to police, the suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Arigye Ivan, a resident of Rugarama Kakore, Niwaha Duncan of Kamuterere Kakore, and Ainamani Justus of Muyorere Kitawulira.

The arrests followed a swift police operation after the District Police Commander (DPC) of Rubanda, SP Tumwebaze JB, received information that unidentified thugs had allegedly intercepted occupants of a truck at Karukara Market, assaulted them and robbed several items.

Police say a response team from Hamurwa Police Station was immediately dispatched to the scene. However, by the time officers arrived, the suspects had reportedly fled.
