Unidentified Male Adult’s Death in Kabale Golf Course Sparks Police Investigation

KABALE – Police in Kabale District are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult whose body was discovered lying in Makanga cell, Kabale municipality golf course.

 

According to a statement released by the Police, the DPC Kabale, ASP Abel Ruganza, received information about a dead body found at the golf course club grounds in Makanga cell.

Upon receiving the report, a team of police officers visited the crime scene and found the body lying alongside the road near the national water and sewerage corporation supply tanks, with multiple bruises on the whole body.

 

The deceased was then taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

 

Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and explained that on 21/07/2023 at approximately 08:50 AM, one Tumwine James, the local council 2 chairperson and a resident of Nyakibande cell, Kitumba Sub County in Kabale district, reported the theft of three goats valued at ugx750000= by an unknown person.

Maate further revealed that the deceased was found at Abatwor while attempting to sell one of the stolen goats, but he managed to escape.

 

The suspect was later spotted in the same village on 22/07/2023 around noon and was subsequently arrested by the villagers.

 

However, due to mob action, he was brutally beaten and brought to Kabale under the pretense of taking him to the hospital for treatment. Instead, he was dumped in Makanga, where he eventually passed away.

 

Maate now urges anyone who might be missing a loved one to visit the hospital mortuary to help with identification and make arrangements for burial while investigations into the incident continues.
