SHEEMA: The Bushenyi District Woman Member of Parliament, Honourable Annet Mugisha Katusiime, has advised students at Ankole Western University (AWU) to embrace patience and nurture a vision for success.

Hon. Katusiime was speaking to students at AWU in Kabwohe, Sheema Municipality, during a prayer service titled “Save a Buddy,”. The event aimed to raise funds to support less privileged students at the university.

She encouraged students to avoid wasting their parents’ resources and to stay focused on making them proud in the future.

“Your parents have sacrificed to send you to school, so do not disappoint them,” Katusiime said.

She also suggested that the AWU administration consider establishing income-generating projects, such as poultry or pig farming, to create self-sustaining initiatives that could support both the university and disadvantaged students.

Katusiime contributed 500,000 UGX to the cause.

Rev. Olive Kekimuli, AWU’s chaplain, urged students to uphold self-esteem, maintain discipline, and have role models to guide them as they prepare for the job market after graduation.

She also encouraged students to have faith in God to witness success in their endeavors.

Wilfred Kabarokole, a Sheema District LC5 chairperson hopeful, advised students to cooperate with their lecturers and be inquisitive to fully grasp concepts and avoid retakes.

The event raised over two million UGX in cash and pledges.
