The Industrial Court of Uganda has ordered Kigezi High School in Kabale District to pay six former employees Shs 21.23 million in salary arrears and costs.

The ruling, delivered on August 20, 2025, by His Worship Daniel Lubowa, followed a long-running dispute in which the ex-workers accused the school of unlawfully terminating their employment and failing to pay their wages.

The applicants, Agaba Elias (former head of security), Byaruhanga Baker (farm manager), Origumisiriza Warren (farm worker), Kakuru Obed (farm worker), Kamuntu Gideon (watchman), and Tiwangye Jerurinah (compound cleaner), filed their case on January 30, 2023, at the Kabale District Labour Office.

While Kabale Senior Labour Officer Swizeen Ndyabawe dismissed the claim of unfair termination, he upheld their demand for unpaid salaries. Kigezi High School, however, declined to honor that decision, forcing the former staff to petition the Industrial Court.
