RUKIGA – The deteriorating condition of the Kamusiza-Kabimbiri and Nyaruziba-Nyakashebeya roads in Kasyambya sub-county, Rukiga district, is causing distress among its users.

The Kamusiza-Kabimbiri road serves as a vital link between Kashambya, Rwamucucu, and Bukinda sub-counties, offering an alternative route to the Muhanga-Kisizi-Kebisoni road, connecting Rukiga and Rukungiri districts. Similarly, the Nyaruziba-Nyakashebeya road connects Nyakashebeya and Rutengye parishes, Kashambya Health Center III, sub-county headquarters, and Nyakashebeya Health Centre II. Unfortunately, reports from users indicate that both roads have become practically impassable.

John Byamukama and Spencer Asiimwe have identified the Hakarindi and Nyaruziba bridges as the most affected sections, consistently flooded for over two years. Consequently, locals, hesitant to navigate these submerged areas, resort to paying boda boda riders between 2000 to 3000 shillings for assistance.

Eddie Mugisha, the LC3 chairman of Rwamucucu sub-county, highlights that the roads, riddled with potholes, have severely disrupted transportation of goods in the area. He also points out that the poor road conditions have impeded access to Mparo Health Centre IV, the largest health facility in the district, particularly during the rainy season.
