KAMPALA: Cyber security experts have urged the government to strengthen citizen capacity to combat cyber threats.
Emmanuel Chagara, founder of Milima Cyber Academy, made these remarks at the Eastcon Cyber security Symposium organized by Milima Cyber Academy in collaboration with NITA Uganda and the Ministry of ICT. The event was held at the National ICT Innovation Hub in Nakawa on Thursday.
While addressing various stakeholders, Chagara highlighted the importance of supporting organizations that offer free cybersecurity training to citizens from diverse backgrounds. He also encouraged the public to stay informed about different cyber threats and learn strategies for mitigating or avoiding common risks.
In a message delivered by Michael Ocero, Acting Commissioner at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister of ICT and National Guidance, praised organizations that are committed to educating the public on cybersecurity.
Baryomunsi noted that the government, through the Ministry of ICT, has implemented measures to enhance cybersecurity and is committed to collaborating with organizations to ensure the safe use of cyberspace.
