KASESE: Herbalists in Kasese District have been urged to register with the National Drug Authority (NDA) to ensure their operations are monitored and comply with regulatory standards.
This call was made by Jamil Mukwaya, President of the Uganda National Traditional Herbalists and Healers Association, during a meeting held at the District Multipurpose Hall in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality.
“Registration with the NDA will allow you to operate freely across the country. It’s also essential to understand the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Act of 2019 to protect your rights as herbalists.” He said.
Dr. Amon Bwambale Isemamba, Kasese District Health Officer, praised the significant roleherbalist’s play, especially in rural areas where modern healthcare is limited. However, he stressed the need for them to operate within the law.
“You should take pride in your work, but ensure it is carried out within the legal framework,” Dr. Bwambale urged.
