JSC Commends Uganda’s Media Impact on Justice

KISORO – The Acting Registrar overseeing legal education, Public Affairs, and Research at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has commended Uganda’s media for its constructive role in upholding justice.

Samuel Mugisa expressed this appreciation yesterday during an interaction between the JSC and Kisoro Media personnel at the Kisoro Chief Magistrate’s court.

Mugisa emphasized the JSC’s responsibility to uphold the justice system, acknowledging the media’s positive contribution in disseminating legal information to the public and acting as advocates for the oppressed.

He urged Kisoro’s media practitioners to utilize their platforms to raise awareness about legal matters, empowering individuals to understand their rights.

Encouraging public participation, Mugisa called on people to attend open court sessions to gain insights into court proceedings and the law.

Maria Tereza Nabulya, the JSC Public Relations Officer, stressed the importance of accurate reporting by journalists as the foundation for true justice, urging them to provide balanced stories with factual information.

Kisoro’s Chief Magistrate, His Worship Komakech Kenneth, pledged to maintain strong collaborative relationships with journalists, ensuring the proper dissemination of information for community understanding.

He commended the JSC for appointing two additional state attorneys to Kisoro, viewing it as an opportunity to address the backlog issue through regular court hearings.
