Kabale District Launches 5-Kilometer Road Construction, MP Atwakiire Encourages Residents to Harness Economic Opportunities

KABALE: Authorities in Kabale District on Tuesday launched the construction of the 5-kilometer Rwene-Kabahesi-Nyakyonga road, valued at 600 million shillings, in Buhara Sub County.

This project is funded by the Ministry of Works and Transport, following successful lobbying by Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira and Ndorwa East Legislator Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba.

Speaking at the launch, Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner Bakak Ronald cautioned contractors against performing shoddy work and urged local leaders of Buhara Sub County to monitor the project closely and report any deviations from the agreed specifications. Bakaki also warned residents against obstructing the project, emphasizing that there would be no compensation for those affected by the construction.

Addressing, the gathering at Rwene Catholic Church Centre grounds, Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, represented by her Political Assistant Alex Akampulira, encouraged residents to utilize the new road to boost their household incomes by improving market access for their produce.

She also called for cooperation between the locals and the engineering team to ensure smooth progress without disruptions.
