Lakeside Souls Nursery and Primary School and Unique Nursery and Primary School in Kabale District have strengthened their partnership through a friendship programme aimed at promoting academic excellence, talent development and collaboration among private schools.

The event, held at Lakeside Souls Nursery and Primary School in Kabirago Village on Saturday, brought together pupils, teachers and administrators from the two schools.

According to the organisers, the initiative was designed to strengthen friendship among learners, improve academic performance through debates, nurture sporting talent and provide a platform to discuss challenges affecting private schools.

The programme began with a debate on the motion, “Town life is better than village life,” in which Lakeside Souls Nursery and Primary School emerged overall winner with 521 points.

The activities ended with a friendly football match at Kishaze Playground, where the two schools settled for a 3-3 draw.

He said debate competitions improve learners’ communication skills, confidence and academic performance, while sports help pupils identify and develop their talents.

Biryomumeisho cited the example of a former pupil of Unique Nursery and Primary School who recently finished second in an athletics competition and earned a scholarship to Creamland High School in Kabale.

Atuheire, the director of Lakeside Souls Nursery and Primary School, described the programme as an important initiative for improving the quality of education through collaboration among schools.

“This is just the beginning. We are committed to organising more debates and friendly sports competitions with different schools as a way of strengthening unity among private schools across the district. Such partnerships will improve the education sector and enhance learners’ academic performance, just as we witnessed in our impressive Primary Leaving Examination results last year,” Atuheire said.

The programme concluded with the two schools committing to continue organising joint academic and co-curricular activities aimed at strengthening partnerships, improving learning outcomes and promoting talent development among learners.
