The Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Catheline Ndamira Atwakiire, has encouraged married couples to strengthen their families through shared prayer, mutual support, and joint efforts toward household development.
She made the remarks on Saturday while addressing guests at the wedding reception of Denis Niwagaba and his wife, Betty Niwagaba, held at the Kabale Diocese Pastoral Centre grounds in Rushoroza, Kabale Municipality. Denis Niwagaba is a resident of Muyumbu Village in Kyanamira Sub-County, a former Youth Chairperson of Rushoroza Cathedral Parish, and currently serves as Parish Chief at Ahabuhuriro Parish in Kahungye Parish, Ndorwa West Constituency.
She emphasized the importance of couples praying together and for one another, describing prayer as a strong foundation for stable and enduring families.
She also urged parents to raise their children in church and under the guidance of God, citing Denis Niwagaba’s upbringing and service in youth ministries at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Parish as a positive example.
The newlyweds exchanged vows at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral, where the wedding Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Benedict Mubangizi.
The legislator further encouraged couples to engage in income-generating activities to promote self-reliance, meet family needs, and educate their children in line with church values.
Other leaders who addressed the gathering echoed similar messages. Eliab Naturinda Mporera, the NRM flag bearer for Ndorwa West Constituency, advised the couple to anchor their marriage in love and always put God first, noting that God is the ultimate source of wisdom and guidance.
Rubanda District Governor, Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, emphasized discipline, unity, and responsible leadership within families.
He called on the newlyweds to be role models in their community by promoting hard work, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence, adding that strong families are the cornerstone of sustainable community and national development.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha, former Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Wakiso District, urged the public to promote unity, accountability, and collective development.
He encouraged voters to support leaders who demonstrate integrity and transparency, cautioning against decisions driven by money, division, or identity politics
