Katakwi District Council Approves Ugx 41 Billion Budget for 2024/25 Financial Year

KATAKWI: Katakwi District Council has approved the budget estimates for the 2024/25 Financial Year, totaling 41,871,444,000 UGX (Forty-one billion eight hundred seventy-one million four hundred forty-four thousand Ugandan shillings).

The motion to table the budget estimates was moved by the District councillor representing Katakwi sub county, Akurut and it was seconded by Hon Stephen Otukei youth councilor before it was unanimously approved by the council

Akurut noted that budget estimates reflect the district’s commitment and determination in prioritizing core programs that are crucial in transforming the District towards the Middle-Income status.

Meanwhile the Vice chairman Katakwi district local government, Joseph Ecuman states that the 2024/25 budget estimates reflect an increase of 10% amounting to 5billion economic years.

Ecuman attributed the budget increment to conditional non-wage grant enhancement to cater for pension, gratuity/pension arrears and salary arrears.

According to the budget estimates, the biggest source of funding for the next financial year budget is, central Government followed by the local revenue, and donor funding.

Geoffrey Omolo, the chairperson LCV katakwi district said the budget estimates, Education 15 billion, followed by Health 11 billion, Administration 7 Billion, Works 2billion and production 2billion.

“Following the past budget, the district is ready to handle numerous things which have hit the development of most sectors in the district” Omolo said.

However, Speaking to this publication, the Kabale District speaker Bosco Aliabu said that the largest portion of the budget will be financed with money from the Central government and as a district we are ready.
