The Kisoro Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Dan Ndikubwami, has called on parents to ensure their children in Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools have lunch at school to boost academic performance.

‎Ndikubwami noted that many pupils who go home for lunch fail to return for afternoon lessons, which negatively affects their studies. He urged head teachers to convene meetings with parents to plan for learners’ welfare.

At Seseme Primary School, headteacher Munyantwari Samuel Baker revealed that over 100 pupils, both in nursery and primary, eat lunch at school. He encouraged more parents to adopt the practice for the benefit of their children.

Baker also raised concern about the April 15th teachers’ strike, warning that while head teachers may be present, most teachers are unlikely to attend. He appealed to government to resolve salary issues to avoid disruption of learning.
