The Luwunga Village chairman, Muwonge Muhammed, and his alleged accomplice, Ssozi Abdalla, have been remanded to prison over several counts related to land grabbing, forgery and destruction of property.
The two were arraigned before the Mukono Magistrates Court by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
They were remanded until August 26, 2026.
Prosecution alleges that between October and November 2025, the accused forcibly entered land measuring about 311 acres in Block 167, Plot 81, Kyaggwe, in Luwunga Village, Nama Sub-county, Mukono District.
The land is registered in the name of Stella Kiwanuka, administrator of the estate of the late Joseph Musanze Kiwanuka.
According to the prosecution, Ssozi allegedly presented himself as the owner of the disputed land and, together with Muhammed, forged sale agreements that were issued to some of the victims.
The two join Kayongo Bonniface and Kiseka Hamuza, who were earlier charged and remanded over similar allegations concerning the land.
The prosecution further alleges that the accused stole property belonging to occupants of the land, including metallic water tanks and water-pumping machines, while also damaging several houses.
They are also accused of uprooting and destroying crops, including maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, sugar cane, tomatoes, banana plantations and eucalyptus trees, with the total value of the destroyed property estimated at about Shs1 billion.
The accused have not yet entered a plea to the charges.
