KISORO: The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party Vice Chairman for Western Uganda, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, has urged voters in Kisoro District to support NRM candidate Rose Kabagyeni in the upcoming by-election for the District Woman Member of Parliament.
Minister Baryomunsi emphasized that the government’s commitment to the district’s development would be best achieved by electing Kabagyeni as their representative.
Speaking to voters in Bukimbiri County on Saturday, Dr. Baryomunsi, who is also the Minister of Information, Communication Technology, and National Guidance, highlighted Kabagyeni’s experience and extensive network in government, which he said would make her an effective advocate for Kisoro’s interests.
“Kabagyeni is a trusted leader with valuable contacts. If elected, she’ll be able to address your issues far more effectively than the other candidates,” he stated.
Minister Baryomunsi emphasized that Kabagyeni’s position within the NRM party would allow her voice to be heard on critical issues like budgeting.
“Being part of the NRM family ensures her voice in parliament is recognized,” he added.
He pledged to join other NRM campaigners to boost her support, describing her as a “reliable and hard-working leader for the people of Kisoro.”
He also cautioned voters against supporting non-NRM candidates, whom he claimed lack a constructive agenda for the district.
“Don’t shy away from voting for NRM a party you’ve trusted and supported for many years,” he said.
Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, the NRM Deputy National Treasurer, reiterated that Kabagyeni is the sole NRM candidate, warning against imposters claiming otherwise.
“Anyone else presenting themselves as NRM is misleading you,” Kyatuhaire stated. She condemned the influence of religious divisions in the campaign, urging voters to focus on development rather than religious affiliations. “We’re voting for a Member of Parliament, not a religious leader. Please choose peace and unity, not division,” she said.
Kabagyeni assured voters that, if elected, she would actively participate in the NRM parliamentary caucus, where development decisions are made.
“My opponents are not part of the caucus and don’t have access to President Museveni,” she said.
Kabagyeni appealed to voters to “tick the bus” on election day, promising that her election would bring better roads and other development projects to Kisoro District.
