The state minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi, has challenged civil servants to embrace a strong sense of nationalism, as a foundation for effective public service delivery.

Musasizi made the remarks on Thursday afternoon while presiding over pre–Tarehe Sita anniversary football and netball games held at Kabale Municipal Stadium.

In the netball match, the Kigezi Select team lost to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces-UPDF 2nd Infantry Division by 48-12, while in football, Kigezi Select defeated UPDF 2nd Infantry Division 2-0.

Addressing leaders and public servants, Musasizi cautioned against sectarian tendencies, urging them to serve the country beyond considerations of tribe or place of birth.

He was responding to remarks by Kabale Municipality Town Clerk, Jamiru Kassajja Kairu, who reported challenges in the implementation of the Parish Development Model-PDM in Iganga District, noting that he felt compelled to go back home to address the situation.
